bootlegs

update

The end of this year couldn't have gone any better. So many adventures and fun nights this last week. Christmas was pretty good besides the fact that my insomnia kept me up till 7 in the morning! I got 3 hours of sleep and then had to wake up for presents. New camera! It was about dang time. My dearest and oldest friend Ari came into town and we had such a lovely time together-I can't wait to go visit her in a couple months in santa cruz. She had to go back today so she made me an amazing breakfast-tofu scramble-then we got some tea and shared our favorite stories of 2009. I didn't realize I had so many good ones! Maybe this year wasn't that bad after all. I'm going to new york next week and cannot cannot wait! I know I'm going to freeze to death but it'll be worth it. Now I'm off to make my hair dark once again...I'm sick of the mess my haircolor's become.

peacoats and boots

I'm so happy that it finally started getting cold here. I can finally wear my coats and hats without looking like an idiot.
Christmas is coming kind of early this year because we're celebrating it at my grandparent's house tomorrow. I love gatherings with the family but I get super bored easily because I don't have any cousins my age so I'm stuck watching some kind of football game with the adults. Bleh.
I finally got to wear my christmas sweater last weekend-simply amazing.
It's finally starting to feel like christmas...well sort of.

and now one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite men...

tortilla face

I was making quesadillas with Lilly today. I felt her tap me on the shoulder and I turned around to see this...

TORTILLA FACE. I laughed forever.

I finally booked my flight to new york. I am so so excited.
1)I've never been and I've always been dying to go.
2)I'll get to be with my friend I've had since I was born.
Actually, we've probably been friends since we were in the womb.
3)I'm staying with my second favorite family.* They're a riot. All I do is laugh when I'm with them.

.
My sister finally put up pictures of my nephew Connor.
For some reason, this was my favorite.

false alarm

The rain storm yesterday was so incredible. I love the mood that comes along with the rain. I was so upset to wake up today and find out that it was back to being sunny....boring.
Thanks to my insomnia and netflix I got myself into the show Dexter. I really really like it.
Thanks to Grant always being asleep when I come over I started reading The Lacuna. So far it's pretty good.

solitary man

This past week was really nice.
I decided to stay in this week-I spent a lot of time reading. I am kind of proud of myself because in the last 5 days I've finished two novels that would equal to roughly about 1400 pages. I'm not going to admit what I was reading though...
Tonight I finally really went out...
Michelle took me to a little chinese place in oceanside that does karaoke every sunday. We got there and there were only about 8 other people in the place....perfect! I waited till about 3 of them snuck out and decided I was in the mood for a song. I've never sung karaoke solo before so I was little bit frightened but I found the courage to get up and sing solitary man by neil diamond. I can't brag about how amazing I was because we all know I don't have the greatest singing voice, but I had soooo much fun up there. It was nice. I had a very nice time tonight. Michelle and I are leaving tomorrow morning to escape to Palm Springs for a short time. It'll be a lovely little get away.
.
.
why can't everything just be as easy as sitting on that dark beach?
something from a song that I have fallen in love with recently...
"But oh my lonely diamond heart
It misses you so well
And oh my lonely diamond heart
It misses you, oh well"
-
exactly... oh well.
trying to control or hide your emotions is ridiculous-too ridiculous for me.
actions will always speak louder than words.
welp, you know where to find me...

Cha bhithidh a leithid ami riamh.

I was reading the obituaries yesterday and came across the quote "Cha bhithidh a leithid ami riamh." It's scottish or gaelic or something but it translates into "His equal will never be among us again."... I like that.
.
.
I've been lost in so much good music today.
Three albums I own as of today:
1)Album from Girls-the song Hellhole Ratrace sold me.
2)A Sphere Needs A Square from The John Whites. Amazing. If you don't know of this band already, please please have a listen. Download the album here:
3) I finally gave in and purchased Up from Below from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. I really like 40 Day Dream.
.
My next purchase will be a new album from the band Real Estate. It actually just came out today-give it a listen.

diamond heart.

I never thought I'd say this but....... I really miss the snow.

I miss the emotions that come with cold weather.

I miss wearing my black coat.

I miss the coffee garden with Dewon.

I miss the old house in provo.
I miss Velour.

I miss chucking massive icicles out of the second story windows with Ashley.

I miss driving in the snow at night pretending I was in Star Wars.

I guess I'm just kind of missing Utah today.

.

.

I've been listening to all of the mp3's on gorilla vs bear.

Probably one of my favorite music blogs.

not new but not old.

Today I came across an old familiar book.....Oh the Places You'll Go! by the marvelous Dr. Seuss.
That book was exactly what I needed to read right now-I don't think I really appreciated it until right now. I suggest that everyone should take a look at it if you haven't in a while.
.
.
This weekend my family was blessed with a new member. My sister and brother-in-law welcomed Connor Strong Hertig on sunday afternoon. I'm sad that they live so far away and I can't see the beautiful boy now!
.
My new favorite website: regretsy.com.
Look it up. You won't be sorry.
.
And now, I will end with one of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes that I find to be absolutely true.
“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities.”

It's decided. After much deliberating and so much time spent thinking... I will be going back to school. Hopefully FIDM. Now I need to figure out which campus I want to go to. It's so nice to have a plan.

This song was playing in a friend's car while we were on our way to Where The Wild Things Are. I loved the movie and love this little lady...

This is one of the pictures I took with my minolta at disneyland. It's outside of the haunted mansion-my favorite place. I have no idea why it turned out like this but I love it.

.
I was listening to the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on vinyl for the first time this morning. Oh my goodness oh my goodness oh my goodness. I thought "A Day in the Life" was amazing just listening to it on my iTunes-but it is outrageous on vinyl. It never ends, it's absolutely incredible. I can't explain it, you'd have to listen to it for yourself to understand.
...
This is probably one of my all time favorite music videos. It's simple but whimsical and it always makes me laugh.

I like this one too...

hello dolly

I woke up at 8 this morning in the BEST mood.
Discovered that Hulu has clips from the Today show and laughed my ass off. Al Roker always has the most ridiculous things to say about everything. God bless that man. There was also a really cool story about a jobless man in europe who found Anglo-Saxon gold and silver artifacts with a $6 dollar metal detector! Maybe I should invest in a metal detector...
I made my brother get out of bed and I made him some french toast as I listened to some Louis Armstrong. He always puts me in the best mood. God bless that man too.
Trevor was kind enough to clean up after breakfast as I danced around the kitchen to MGMT.
Dave came by with Lucy later and I was so so so happy to see that little doll. Goodness I miss her.

Check out these amazing moves...this was me in another life.

I despise coughing and coughing despises me...

Being sick is the worst. Not having any health insurance is worse.
Luckily and surprisingly CVS came to the rescue. Ever heard of Minute Clinic?
Neither had I until today. It's a clinic at CVS where their nurse practitioners and physician
assistants diagnose and treat you. It was by far the easiest thing. I was in and out of there in 20 minutes with a prescription for my magical codeine. Hopefully I can now sleep in peace.
Thank you CVS for coming through once again.

ads 4 africa

So I'm always getting these obnoxious invites on my facebook to become a fan of some ridiculous person or to go to some boring party but then I received an invitation to join a cause some day. Way to go facebook- finally using your powers for good! Well one day I came across an invitation for a cause called Ads4Africa. I was so happy to come across this charity because it gives people to the opportunity to help out without having to donate money that no one really has in this economy. The money from this goes to help poverty-stricken families by funding micro-loans so they can start small business. Amazing, right? There are two ways you can help out...

a.) Use the Ads4Africa search engine. http://search.ads4africa.org/

The search engine is the same as google only everytime you use it you're earning money for the charity. The search engine has certain sponsors that will donate money everytime it is used.

or

b.) Sign up to have these sponsors advertise on your blog. (hint hint)

You can go here http://ads4africa.org/start-helping/ to sign up and get a html code for your blog.

So there you have it folks-an easy and amazing way for anyone and everyone to help out our fellow beings in need. Now start helping-use the search engine to look up the lyrics to Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" or something cool like that.

my new minolta SR-T 303

is absolutely amazing. I was waiting in line at the amvets thrift store to purchase my records that I had carefully selected, when I saw this beautiful creature in one of the display windows under the counter. I asked the clerk to see it and the second I got my hands on it I knew we were destined to be together. So a trip to the atm and forty bones later we were on our way home...peep some pics from the first role...

Project Planter

So I've been bugging my pops a lot lately to help me build a planter so I can start growing my own herbs and vegetables. Well the clever son of a gun came home a couple days ago and asked me to help him get something out of his truck. I walked outside and saw this amazing old rusted coke machine! Pops is a genius and I'm so excited to get started on my little garden.

I'll post some more pictures once I get started on it.

lykke li please.

so monday morning I went to buy tickets to the lykke li show that was at the belly up that night. I was so distressed when I learned that they had sold out earlier that morning but don't worry-I put an ad up on craigslist and within an hour arranged to pick up two tickets from a girl downtown. I have to say that I had such a good time at that show that it was probably my favorite night of this year so far. The band that played before lykke li -Afternoons- were incredible. I don't think I've ever heard anything like them and I loved it. I can't even explain how amazing lykke li was. She had such an incredible stage presence-she was so passionate about each song she was singing. She also sang a couple of hip hop songs which was so so adorable and badass. She's definitely one of my favorite artists.

bottom line....LOVE LOVE LOVE lykke li.

brand new pair of rollerskates...

Photobucket

It's been a while since I've blogged so I thought I'd return with the subject of roller skates. I have been wanting roller skates forever and I think I'm finally going to invest in some this month. I think my life would be a lot better with roller skates. Everyone else should get some too. Just imagine, every thursday night we could have a roller disco...how rad would that be?

Two more hours of work and I'm off to play with my Lindsay love. I am so so happy that we both are back living in SD and continuing are amazing adventures. Hopefully Paul will join us too because we make quite the trio. I have been craving sushi so bad lately so perhaps we can add that into tonight's agenda??

Hayden is quite the artist...

I went to my baby cousin's blessing on sunday all the way up in LA. It was really fun getting to play with all of my little cousins and hanging out with my family but my favorite part of the day was during church...my little cousin Hayden drew a portrait of me and it was amazing. So, according to Hayden, this is what I look like when I wear my hoop earrings....

Ms. Aimee Porter's 21st

Last night I went out with my friend Aimee for her birthday. I met the group for dinner-the group consisted of a wonderful assortment of ladies. Then we all headed downtown to On Broadway to dance the night away. We started off in the hip hop room and it was fun but full of creepers. We finally headed up to the house room and that was a little more my style. Steve Aoki was playing a set and I had a lot of fun dancing-I'm definitely a fan of that man now. The time came to get out of there so we walked to the cars. We had an interesting drive home- but it definitely made the night more memorable. All in all I had a pretty good time last night.

goodbye salt lake...

So I recently moved back to San Diego and had to leave the lovely Salt Lake City behind for the time being....my last weekend there was so lovely though. Saturday night some friends came over to say bye and I'm so grateful for everyone that was able to make it. Sunday we went to breakfast at Park Cafe and it was nothing but amazing. It was a lovely day so we took a stroll through the park and made our way home so I could start packing the car up. After packing Mo ordered the most enormous pizza ever and we ate and ate and watched some television. Later that night I met some interesting people at the W and learned of the garbage warrior. Monday morning as I was trying to get the last of everything Peg made us some breakfast and then I made my way over to Dewon's to say bye. Dewon made me the most amazing lunch, we said our goodbyes and I was off to Moab.

The drive to Moab was the worst-first of all I lost 20 bones who knows where before I even left SLC-second of all I got pulled over for speeding-the speed went from 60 to 40 and the cop was sitting right by the 40 sign and got me before I had a chance to slow down-oh but it gets better. As I'm searching for my license to give the cop I realize that my purse that it's in along with my money and credit card is no where to be found in my car-oh wait, I left it at the gas station. Luckily the cop was cool and didn't make a fuss of it and felt bad that I had to back track so he kindly gave me my ticket and let me go on my way. Drove about a half hour back to find the cute old lady keeping my purse safe and sound in the register.

Finally made it to Moab and my beautiful Kylie James. We drove around the canyon and visited Dave the first day. Seeing Dave was so fun-he's one of the funniest souls I've had the pleasure of knowing. My second day with Kylie was spent driving to Grand Junction and walking in and out of stores-then we did eachother's hair that night. Kylie now has blonde hair and my ends are reddish orange. My hair actually reminds me of the Red Knee tarantula.

see what I mean???

Anyways my time in Moab was up and I headed home with absolutely no problems. The drive from Moab to St George was absolutely incredible. When I was getting gas in Barstow I had a van full of marines staring at me for like 5 minutes and then finally the old man in the front tried to hit on me- I just smiled and laughed and then quickly got back into my car. Being home has been great but I miss Salt Lake and my life there...but I'm going back in a couple weeks to get my bed so that will be a nice little visit. Well I'm off to watch more chevy chase clips on youtube...

This is Eagle Canyon-one of the beautiful places I stopped as I was driving through the canyon's after Moab..

February February...

Mo and I went to a hip hop class monday that my friend was teaching and it killed our legs. walking around salt lake for 4 hours-killed my legs. peg, mo and me killin it and dancing the night away at the w-killed our legs. basically our legs are dead.
